2/5. Passes closing, hotels shutting, medical infrastructure half-staffed. The one case where Leh is actually unkind.

# Is Leh in November worth it? Don't go
Leh in November scores 2/5 on our monthly grid. That is one of only three months that scores this low (the other two are December and January, which at least have a coherent winter-sports pitch).
Verdict: Skip. Come back in June or September. Both score 5/5.
Here is the specific problem with November: the town is caught between seasons.
Khardung La and the road to Pangong typically close to civilian traffic by the second or third week of October; by November neither is reliably open. Nubra Valley access via the pass is limited to military. The road to Tso Moriri closes by early November. So the three signature destinations that justify a Leh trip — Pangong, Nubra, Tso Moriri — are all effectively unreachable.
Meanwhile, the Srinagar–Leh and Manali–Leh highways both close to tourist traffic by November. BRO stops maintaining Rohtang and Baralacha; flights from Delhi become the only way in and out.
And the flights are a problem too. Leh (IXL) is weather-dependent in winter. November snowfall cancels flights several times a month. Travellers get stranded for 24–72 hours with no road option. Some hotels will extend your stay at the same rate; others will not.
Seventy percent of Leh's hotels close between late October and April. The ones that stay open run minimum heating (to save firewood), limited restaurant hours, and skeletal staffing. You will not have the experience the photos promised.
SNM Hospital Leh stays open but with reduced specialist rotations. AMS and altitude-related emergencies in November mean evacuation to Chandigarh by air — weather permitting.
The one case for November Leh: you have been before, in peak season, and you specifically want the empty-town winter experience — bare poplar trees on the Indus plain, frozen prayer wheels at Thiksey, Leh Palace in morning frost, no tourists. For this you need to accept that half the town is shuttered, most restaurants are closed, and you'll be wearing a down jacket indoors.
For everyone else: go in June or September. Both months score 5/5. Pangong is open, Nubra is open, passes are clear, weather is stable, flights run on schedule.

Is Manali safe for solo female travellers? Which Manali, and when
Manali is not one place. New Manali is a respectable hill town — 4/5 safe. Old Manali is the Himachal backpacker-cafe strip with party + drug scene — 2/5 after 10pm. McLeodganj 3 hours away holds 5/5 year-round. Pick deliberately.

Is Kashmir safe for solo female travellers? What actually matters
Kashmir is the destination where the generic 'is India safe for women' post fails hardest. The answer depends on which month, which valley, which houseboat operator, and whether you're willing to dress differently than you would in Goa. Here's the concrete version.
