Peak Season
Devprayag in March
Uttarakhand, India
March opens Devprayag to spring. Temperatures reach 12-24°C, the hillsides above the confluence green up, and the first trickle of Char Dham season pilgrims appears. The rivers remain clear but start to swell slightly with early snowmelt from upstream.
The March story
March is when Devprayag makes the most sense for first-time visitors. Comfortable weather means you can spend time on the ghats without shivering, the sangam is still visible in two-tone clarity, and the Raghunath temple is open without summer queues. The town's layout — houses stacked on a steep hillside above the confluence — is best explored on foot, and March makes that walk pleasant rather than punishing. The suspension bridge over the Alaknanda, swinging under your feet with the river 30 metres below, is a specific thrill that does not require adrenaline sports branding. Rooms: ₹500-1,500/night.
