The March story
The Pancheshwar confluence — where the Kali and Saryu rivers meet at the Nepal border (about 60 km away) — makes a magnificent day trip. The rivers are different colours and refuse to mix for hundreds of metres downstream. Closer to town, the Mayawati Ashram (Advaita Ashrama, founded 1899) near Lohaghat offers spiritual quiet in a pine forest setting established by Swami Vivekananda's direct disciples.
