Prashar Lake in July
Himachal Pradesh, India
July drowns Prashar in monsoon. The oak forest trail becomes a leech-infested stream, the meadows vanish into fog, and the lake disappears behind a wall of cloud that rolls in by 9am and does not lift.
The July story
Landslide risk on the approach road to Bagi makes even reaching the trailhead uncertain. The trail itself is a mudslide in sections. The floating island and Dhauladhar views — the two reasons to come — are invisible. The temple priest is there but you will be alone, wet, and possibly stranded if the road washes out.
