Prashar Lake in February
Himachal Pradesh, India
Deep snow blocks access and avalanche zones make the trek genuinely dangerous in February
February keeps Prashar locked in winter. Snow still covers the oak forest trail and the meadows above are wind-blasted sheets of white. The Dhauladhar range gleams but the approach remains treacherous.
The February story
Conditions mirror January with added avalanche risk as temperatures fluctuate. The trail is unmarked under snow and the last 2km climb to the lake rim is icy. Not recommended unless you are an experienced winter trekker with a local guide who knows the snow conditions.
