March is when Mumbai humidity starts loading in but daytime stays bearable — 27-34C with 65-75% humidity. Mornings 6:30am-10am still feel cool inside the basalt cave 3 chaitya hall (interior holds 24-26C even on hot days due to thermal mass). SGNP trails are dry and clear; the 1.5km uphill walk gets sweaty but stays doable. No major March Buddhist anchor. Trail traffic drops noticeably from peak Dec-Feb levels — weekday mornings can be near-empty. The cave 41 image of the Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva (one of Kanheri's most photographed late-Mahayana panels) catches morning east-facing light from about 7:30am. Pack a torch — cave interiors are dim and the 8.5m cave 3 Buddha sculptures show their carving detail best under raked torch light.
