Mount Girnar in March
Gujarat, India
Wait if you can — March is shoulder, by April climb becomes unsafe.
March at Girnar: 18-34C. The 9,999-step climb is still on, but it's firmly a pre-4am start — by mid-morning the exposed sections are punishing. Heat builds week by week; the climb that's comfortable in February becomes a stress-test by month-end.
The March story
March is Girnar's pivot month — the climb remains physically possible, but the heat-management changes. Pre-4am starts become non-negotiable, and climbers should plan to be off the upper exposed sections by 11am (with extra time for the Neminath Jain temple cluster and Datta peak). The ropeway runs 7am-4pm and becomes the prudent option for travellers without serious mountaineering fitness. By the last week, even pre-dawn climbs are sweat-heavy and water consumption doubles. The Girnar Ropeway becomes the dominant access method; foot-climbers are increasingly limited to the most committed pilgrims.
