Peak crowds
December is one of Mount Girnar's busiest months. The score rates conditions — weather, access, value — not how many people you'll share them with. Jain pilgrimage site peak Nov–Feb during winter holidays and cooler climbing season; summer heat prevents foot traffic.
December is Girnar at its absolute climbing best — 12-26C, cold pre-dawn starts ideal for the 9,999-step ascent, summit views crystal-clear all morning, and the ropeway running 7am-4pm under cloudless skies. The Neminath Jain temple cluster and Datta peak (1,031m) at full access.
The December story
December is the year's photographic and climbing peak at Girnar — clear skies, cool pre-dawn starts, dry walking conditions from base to Datta peak. The Girnar Ropeway runs at 7am sharp under cloudless conditions. Hotel rates are highest, Junagadh's Lemon Tree and The Lotus Hotel book out around Christmas-New Year. Build a 5-7 day Saurashtra loop with Girnar as the climbing anchor: pre-dawn foot-climb + Neminath Jain temples + Datta peak summit + Bhavnath foothills + Junagadh's 2,300-year heritage circuit + Gir lion park (60km) + Somnath Jyotirlinga (75km). This is the month the climb-and-five-peaks story actually rewards — and the most committed climbers do both up-and-down on foot to claim the full 9,999-step pilgrimage.
