Velavadar in March
Gujarat, India
Go — last comfortable month, dawn-only, harrier window closing late-month.
March is Velavadar's last comfortable safari month — 20-35C, dry grassland visibility at maximum, blackbuck herds active dawn and dusk. Harriers begin late-March migration departure; by month-end the roost is reduced but still functional. Wolf-sighting reliability still high through the month.
The March story
March is the pivot month for Velavadar — peak dry-season tracking gives the year's best grassland-and-sky photographs, but the heat building means morning slots become non-negotiable. By month-end harrier roost reduced from 2,000+ to a few hundred as migration departs for Central Asian breeding grounds. Wolf tracking still reliable; the Blackbuck Lodge naturalists run dawn wolf-photography drives. The Blackbuck Lodge organic-garden cuisine continues at full menu; Blackbuck Safari Lodge buffet at peak quality. Combine with Saurashtra heritage: Palitana's 863 Jain temples remain comfortable for pre-dawn climbs through March, Bhavnagar's Nilambag Palace ideal mid-March.
