Mount Girnar in October
Gujarat, India
Wait if seeking reliability — late October better than early; November-February is peak.
October at Girnar: 22-31C, Saurashtra drying after monsoon. 9,999-step climb doable but steps still slick — workable, ropeway safer if rain lingers. Year's second-best climbing month after November-February; late-monsoon greens still on the slopes.
The October story
October is Girnar's reopening month — monsoon retreats by the first week, the foot-climb regains reliability after slippery monsoon basalt, and the late-monsoon green still tints the slopes for photogenic conditions. By mid-month the climb is fully safe with dry-step conditions; by late month the November Girnar Parikrama (Nov 8 2026) draws closer and pre-event flow builds. The ropeway runs reliably 7am-4pm. Climbers arriving in October get fewer crowds than November's 2-million-pilgrim Parikrama wave and cleaner climb conditions than September's rain-roulette. The Datta peak summit story regains its colour. Combine with Junagadh's 2,300-year heritage circuit and Gir National Park reopening Oct 16 for a 5-7 day Saurashtra loop.
