Geeta Lodge is in Junagadh town, ~5km from Bhavnath/Girnar Taleti — it's the obvious recovery-meal after the Girnar climb. Climbers descend by 11am-1pm; Geeta is open by 11:30am with hot unlimited thali for ₹150. Founded 1938. The Kathiyawadi-style thali (spicier, less sweet than mainland Gujarati) replenishes calories spent on the climb.
Tip: Auto-rickshaw from Bhavnath to Mullawada is ₹100-150; share with other climbers descending at the same time. Ask for double rotla and extra buttermilk after the climb — you'll burn through both. Geeta closes at 3pm for lunch break before reopening at 7pm for dinner.
Signature: Maggi, masala chai, and chaas before the climb
Bhavnath is the start point of the Girnar climb (10,000 steps to Datta Shikhar). The food-stall cluster around Bhavnath Mahadev temple is where every climber loads up at 4am-5am before starting the trek. Mostly carts and small kitchens run by families on rotating shifts. Chai, maggi, fafda-jalebi, vada-pav — climber food, designed for energy and quick consumption. Stalls are cheapest before the climb; prices double once you cross the gate.
Tip: Start before 5am to beat the heat. The chai before the climb is cheaper and stronger than the mid-trail stalls. Carry a 1L water bottle from a closed/sealed cart, not the open jugs (hygiene is poor on the open carts). Cash only.

The Girnar Ropeway opened October 2020 — the canteen at the lower station catches every ropeway visitor who skips the step climb. Standard cafeteria-style — hot snacks, tea, packaged drinks. Cleaner and faster than the trail stalls; built for queue-management, not destination dining.
Tip: Pre-ropeway breakfast is the right slot — climb to top via ropeway, eat at the top after seeing the temples; come back hungry to the base canteen. The thali is decent for the price (₹120-150). Avoid the cold drinks displayed in the open sun.
Signature: Lemon-juice, buttermilk, fresh fruit
On the plateau at roughly the 4,000-step mark where the Jain temple complex sits, a cluster of stalls sells fruit, water, lemon juice, buttermilk and biscuits to climbers. This is the last meaningful food zone — stalls beyond step 7,000 are inconsistent or absent. Locals carrying the goods up by hand and donkey; prices reflect that (3x base rates).
Tip: Stock up here, not above — there's nothing reliable past step 7,000. Buttermilk (chaas) is the best electrolyte for the heat; better than the bottled energy drinks. Carry small notes; vendors don't make change for ₹500 readily. No UPI at most stalls.

FESTIVALS · BY THE MONTH
A sacred pilgrimage circumambulating Mount Girnar during the Hindu month of Kartik. The green parikrama (pradakshina) is approximately 36 km through dense forest, starting from Bhavnath temple. Around 1 lakh pilgrims participate, walking over 4 days, honoring Girnar as a sacred peak for both Hindu and Jain faiths.
A 5-day fair held at the Bhavnath Mahadev Temple at the foothills of Mount Girnar near Junagadh. The festival culminates on the auspicious night of Maha Shivaratri when devotees believe Lord Shiva himself visits the temple. Naga Sadhus arrive in grand processions on elephants, blowing conch shells and chanting hymns. Grand puja of Lord Shiva is conducted at midnight.
