Agatti Island in February
Lakshadweep, India
Go in February—Agatti's dry season delivers calm lagoons and exceptional underwater visibility for snorkeling, though book flights well ahead as access is limited.
Peak crowds
February is one of Agatti Island's busiest months. The score rates conditions — weather, access, value — not how many people you'll share them with. October–March for calm seas and snorkeling; southwest monsoon June–September closes water sports.
February in Agatti reads like January with cheaper margins. Rainfall under 10mm for the month, daytime 24-31C, the Arabian Sea so flat the southern lagoon mirrors the sky from 6am. The Alliance Air ATR runs its full peak winter timetable — two weekly flights from Kochi plus a third on demand during school holidays. Inter-island speedboats run to Bangaram and Thinnakara on a stable schedule by mid-month. Snorkel-only day trips to the uninhabited Kalpitti islet (15 minutes by dhoni, ₹500-800 per head with a SPORTS booking) are on. Permit processing still takes 30-45 days; the SAMUDRAM cruise-package route (Kochi → Agatti via 4-5 day ship) is the fallback if individual permits stall. Carry the printed permit, photo ID, and the original sponsor letter — the Agatti airport check-in and the jetty police both inspect at arrival. Bangaram alcohol is the only legal option in the cluster; everything else is dry.
