Agatti Island in July
Lakshadweep, India
July is monsoon at its most stubborn on Agatti. Rainfall averages 380-450mm across 26-28 wet days, sustained westerly winds pump 4-6 metre swells onto the western reef, and the lagoon-edge breakers run all day. Alliance Air remains suspended, the SPORTS ferry network is paused, and the entire visitor stack — resorts, dive school, inter-island boats — is offline. The Lakshadweep Tourism permit office stops accepting applications for July arrivals; even research and emergency travel takes special permission via the Administrator's office. Air temperature 25-28C is deceptively mild but constant rain and 90-plus percent humidity mean clothes don't dry, the BSNL tower goes intermittent on storm days, and even the supply boats from Kochi run irregular schedules. The trip you came for cannot happen. Wait for late October.
