Agatti Island in October
Lakshadweep, India
Peak crowds
October is one of Agatti Island's busiest months. The score rates conditions — weather, access, value — not how many people you'll share them with. October–March for calm seas and snorkeling; southwest monsoon June–September closes water sports.
October in Agatti is when the chain visibly turns the corner. Rainfall drops to 100-150mm, mostly in the first week, then most of the back half is dry. Air 24-31C, humidity 78-82 percent and falling. Alliance Air normalises to its full twice-weekly Kochi-Agatti schedule by October 5; the third holiday-season flight starts adding from late-month. Dive viz climbs from 18-20m at month-start to 25-28m by month-end. Agatti Island Beach Resort runs at 70-80 percent occupancy; SPORTS huts have walk-in availability some weeks. Bay of Bengal cyclone season runs through October-November but most systems track north-east toward Odisha and miss the Lakshadweep chain entirely. The permit lead drops from 30-45 days back toward 20-30 days as the application flow normalises. Hotel rates sit 30-35 percent below December peak. The eastern reef-wall dive holds 25m viz again from October 15.
