Agatti Island in May
Lakshadweep, India
Pre-monsoon swells make water activities unpredictable and ferry schedules unreliable
May in Agatti splits in two. The first fortnight runs like late April — 28-33C, humidity 80 percent, lagoon flat, dive viz still 22-25m. The second fortnight is when the SW monsoon makes its presence felt: afternoon squalls of 30-45 minutes, then back to muggy sun, but enough rough sea to start cancelling Bangaram day-trips. Alliance Air drops from two weekly flights to one from around May 20; dive operators close for the season in the last week. Resort rates run year-low (often 50 percent off January) but the conditions you came for — calm lagoon, viz, day-boat to Bangaram — are no longer guaranteed. Lock the first 10 days or wait for October. The chain is operationally shut from June 1 to mid-September; resort and SPORTS bookings pause for the same window. There is no version of the trip that works after May 25.
