Lakhamandal, the ancient Shiva temple 60 km away with Mahabharata connections, makes a rewarding half-day trip. Homestays charge ₹1,200-2,500/night and most now serve home-cooked Garhwali meals. April here feels like May in a hill station that charges three times more.
