The December story
Snow transforms this place. The deodar forest under fresh snowfall — no footprints, no sounds except branches releasing their load — is one of the most beautiful things in the Indian Himalayas that almost nobody sees. Tiger Falls freezes partially, creating ice formations that change daily. The Budher caves trail under snow is challenging but navigable with basic winter gear. Christmas and New Year bring a small trickle of travellers, but nothing resembling a crowd. Heated homestays charge ₹800-1,500/night, serve thick dal and fresh rotis, and offer the kind of warmth that only exists when it is genuinely cold outside.
