Little Andaman in January
Andaman & Nicobar Islands, India
Peak crowds
January is one of Little Andaman's busiest months. The score rates conditions — weather, access, value — not how many people you'll share them with. Peak Nov–Mar for dry season and holiday crowds; Jun–Sep monsoon makes it inaccessible and empty.
Little Andaman in January is the southernmost legal Andaman destination at full operations. Air 24-30C, surface water 28C, the directorate of shipping ferry from Phoenix Bay to Hut Bay runs daily on the 6-8 hour open-deck crossing at 950 rupees in deck class. Surf at Kumari and Butler Bay is clean - 1.5 to 2 metre swell, offshore winds, suitable for intermediates. White Surf Waterfall (2km forest walk) and Whisper Wave (5km harder trail) both run easily. Onge Tribal Reserve restrictions cover Dugong Creek and inland zones - tribal welfare permit needed for those. Hut Bay has BSNL only and no working ATM; carry 15,000 rupees from Port Blair.
