December at Little Andaman is the version of the surf-island that earns the 6-8 hour ferry. Air 24-29C, water 28C, the directorate of shipping ferry from Phoenix Bay running daily on the Hut Bay crossing. Surf at Kumari and Butler Bay is at year-best consistency - 1.5-2 metre clean swell, offshore mornings, water glass-flat. White Surf and Whisper Wave waterfall trails are dry-foot. The 5 Hut Bay guesthouses run at 1,200-1,800 rupees per night, with Christmas-NY week (December 22 to January 2) carrying a 35 percent premium and 7-day booking lead. The Onge Tribal Reserve permit rules are unchanged. Mobile network: BSNL only, no working ATM. Carry 18,000 rupees from Port Blair.
