Junagadh in February
Gujarat, India
Go — Bhavnath Naga sadhu fair Feb 12-16 is the once-a-year cultural anchor.
Peak crowds
February is one of Junagadh's busiest months. The score rates conditions — weather, access, value — not how many people you'll share them with. Heritage fort tourism peaks October–February during cool months. May–June are hottest and driest; minimal tourists.
February is Junagadh's peak month for the rare double-act — heritage circuit access at 14-30C AND the Bhavnath Mahadev Naga sadhu fair at Girnar's foothills around Maha Shivratri (Sat Feb 14 2026). The fair brings Naga sadhus to camp around the Bhavnath temple for 5 days, with night-time torchlight processions up Girnar that few outside Saurashtra know about.
The February story
The Bhavnath Mahadev Fair is one of Saurashtra's least-photographed cultural events — Naga ascetics from across India congregate at the Girnar foothills around Maha Shivratri (Feb 14 2026), camping for 5 days. Their midnight torch processions up Mount Girnar are the photographic anchor. Outside the fair window, February delivers Uparkot Fort, Ashokan Rock Edicts (250 BCE Brahmi script on the original granite), Mahabat Maqbara, and the 1863 Sakkarbaug Zoo's Asiatic lion breeding programme — all in cool, dry conditions before March's pre-summer heat. Combine with Somnath (75km south, Maha Shivratri Jyotirlinga peak) for a once-a-year cultural double-feature.
Why February scores 8.0/10
