Sasan Gir in February
Gujarat, India
Go — peak Asiatic lion window plus Bhavnath Fair combine.
Peak crowds
February is one of Sasan Gir's busiest months. The score rates conditions — weather, access, value — not how many people you'll share them with. Peak Dec–Mar for Asiatic lion safari during cool dry season; monsoon (Jun–Sep) closes vehicle safaris.
February is Sasan Gir at peak Asiatic lion visibility — 14-31C, dry forest at maximum sightlines, waterhole congregations at their most reliable, and the Maldhari herder cattle camps (nesses) accessible via accredited guides. Lodges at full operational capacity; Aramness, Asiatic Lion Lodge and The Fern all at peak February rates.
The February story
February extends January's peak Asiatic lion window — the same cool-dry conditions but slightly warmer, lion afternoon movement still excellent, photography conditions at their best (low-angle morning light, dust-free air). The Maldhari nesses inside the core forest offer century-of-coexistence storytelling that ranks among the cultural experiences of Indian wildlife travel. Combine with the Bhavnath Mahadev Fair at Girnar (Feb 14 2026, 60km north) for a wildlife-culture double-anchor week. The Tulsi Shyam hot springs (25km) and Kamleshwar Dam viewing platform both at peak access. Sasan village dining at peak — Flavours of Forest at Asiatic Lion Lodge or Kesar at Saavaj Resort for the formal dinners.
