Junagadh in March
Gujarat, India
Wait if you can — March is shoulder, April-May is hot. Feb or Nov-Dec are better.
March at Junagadh: 19-35C. Fort, caves and Ashokan edicts are all workable early; midday on the exposed slopes gets uncomfortable. Pre-summer heat starting to assert itself, but heritage circuit still accessible in dawn-and-dusk windows.
The March story
March is Junagadh's pivot month — Uparkot Fort still walkable pre-10am, the Ashokan Rock Edicts (mostly shaded) survive midday, but the Girnar climb requires 4am pre-dawn starts to avoid heat-stroke on the exposed steps. By month-end day-windows compress to 5:30-9am and 6-9pm. Sakkarbaug Zoo opens 8am-5pm — early morning visits work, midday becomes a slow-paced shaded walk. Heritage circuits arriving in March should budget extra rest time and treat 11am-4pm as indoor recovery (AC restaurants, indoor museums). The Bhavnath Fair has passed; the next major event is the Girnar Parikrama in November.
