Har Ki Doon in June
Uttarakhand, India
Peak crowds
June is one of Har Ki Doon's busiest months. The score rates conditions — weather, access, value — not how many people you'll share them with. Himalayan trek peak May–Jun for summer crowds and Sep–Oct for clear autumn conditions; winter is snowbound.
June at Har-Ki-Doon is the last clean trekking window before monsoon. Daytime at Sankri 22-25C, nights 8-12C; at the meadow daytime 18-22C, nights 5-8C. Meadows still in flower — late primulas, alpine asters, the small wild iris of the upper Bhyundar. Glacier views of Swargarohini and Black Peak at maximum clarity through to June 15-20. Operators run peak departure frequency through the first half. After June 20, the southwest monsoon advance begins reaching the Govind NP region, and operators (Indiahikes, Bikat, Himalayan Hikers and others) start scaling back departures for the July-August monsoon shutdown. The Tons river (which feeds the Har-Ki-Doon valley) starts running silt-loaded brown by month-end. Govind NP fee ₹150+₹100. Sankri GMVN ₹1,200; private lodge grid ₹1,500-3,500. Standard 4-day itinerary works. Carry rain gear in the second fortnight — pre-monsoon thunderstorms become more frequent. Daily distances 9-12km, moderate difficulty. The Tons river crossing at Taluka is at full snowmelt flow — pony assistance recommended for first-time trekkers.
