Auli in June
Uttarakhand, India
Go in early June—meadows are lush, weather is stable, and you'll finish Gorson Bugyal before monsoon arrives mid-month.
Early June holds the last clear trekking window before monsoon clouds arrive. Gorson Bugyal and Kuari Pass treks are at their prime — green meadows, snow peaks, and wildflowers. By mid-June, clouds build daily and the first rains can arrive by month's end.
The June story
Early June is the last reliable window for Kuari Pass and Gorson Bugyal treks before monsoon clouds roll in. The meadows are at maximum bloom, rhododendrons are still flowering at lower elevations, and the Himalayan views are clear most mornings (clouds tend to build after noon). By mid-June, the weather becomes unreliable — some days are glorious, others are socked in. The cable car operates but may pause during heavy weather. Joshimath is busy with Char Dham pilgrims heading to Badrinath. June's advantage: if you get clear weather, the combination of green meadows, snow peaks, and wildflower carpets is Auli's most photogenic composition. Its disadvantage: you might not get clear weather. Plan for three days and hope two cooperate.
Why June scores 8.0/10
Weather
Green and pleasant 12-22°C. Pre-monsoon meadows lush. Light rain starts late June. Good for Gorson Bugyal trek before monsoon closes trails.
