Barren Island in March
Andaman & Nicobar Islands, India
Peak crowds
March is one of Barren Island's busiest months. The score rates conditions — weather, access, value — not how many people you'll share them with. Extreme-tourism destination accessible Dec–Mar; rough seas and monsoon (Jun–Sep) prevent boat access entirely.
Barren Island in March holds February's sea state while the rates ease. Rainfall 35-50mm, daytime 26-31C, surface water at 28C. Live-aboards run their full schedules from Havelock and Port Blair - Lacadives, Barefoot Dive, Dive India and one or two seasonal operators. Charter rates drop to 70,000 to 1,10,000 rupees per head for the standard 3-night package. Underwater visibility at Volcano Wall and Manta Point holds at 30 metres. The cone shows steam activity. The crossing is still 8-10 hours each way through deep water. Advanced open-water minimum; some operators require nitrox. No landing, boat-based viewing only, Forest Department permit through the operator.
