Peak crowds
October is one of Aalo's busiest months. The score rates conditions — weather, access, value — not how many people you'll share them with. Peak October–January for post-monsoon freshness and winter holidays; monsoon months are quietest.
October in Aalo is when the West Siang year visibly turns. Monthly rainfall drops to 100-150mm, mostly in the first 7-10 days, then most of the back half is clear. Daytime 24-26C, nights cool to 14-17C, humidity falls below 75 percent. The Aalo-Mechuka onward stretch is fully restored by October 15 — book your circuit through one of the Aalo-based operators (Donyi Hango Travels, Mopin Tours) for the road and ILP combination. The Yomgo and Siang clear up by the last week of October — rafting operators based in Pasighat and Aalo restart Class III-IV runs on the Yomgo from October 25. The Galo villages settle into post-harvest calm, the granaries (the lokho-pakho) fill, and homestays return to full capacity. Domestic flights to Pasighat run their full schedule. Hotel rates are still 25-30 percent below January-February peak.
