Aalo in August
Arunachal Pradesh, India
Monsoon floods make trails impassable and landslides frequent in August
August in Aalo is more of July with marginally fewer wet days. Monthly rainfall 600-800mm spread across 25-27 wet days. The Aalo-Mechuka road continues to break and reopen on weekly cycles. The Pasighat-Aalo NH-13 takes 2-3 multi-day closures across the month. Daytime 24-30C, humidity 85-90 percent. The August 15 Independence Day flag-hoisting at the Aalo District HQ ground is the month's sole organised event — a strictly local affair. Rafting remains impossible (rivers in flood). The Donyi Hango and Circuit House operate but on monsoon-light staffing. The few visitors in town are usually government officials on duty postings. There is no holiday version of the Aalo trip that runs in August. The next clean window starts late October.
