October is Chittorgarh's second-best month (after January). Temperatures drop to 20-34°C, Navratri celebrations add colour to the fort's temples, and the post-monsoon landscape remains green. The tourist season officially begins, but crowds are manageable.

Heritage castle homestay run by a Rajput family. The host tells stories of the fort over dinner. The rooms are decorated with family heirlooms. Leopard sightings from the property are common.
Sit on the courtyard outside if the weather permits — sandstone walls of the fort frame the meal. The fort closes at 6 PM, so plan a late lunch (1-2 PM) rather than dinner.
