Fair
Mussoorie in February
Uttarakhand, India
February is January with slightly better odds. Daytime temperatures inch up to 8-11°C, and sunny afternoons on Mall Road can feel almost pleasant in a good jacket. Snow probability drops to 20-25% but a late cold wave can surprise. Tourist numbers remain negligible — under 2,000 per weekend. Landour stays frozen and silent. The Dehradun road is clear and the 35 km drive from Dehradun ISBT takes an easy 50 minutes without traffic.
The February story
February's value proposition is simple: winter atmosphere without January's brutal edge. Camel's Back Road — the 3 km walking path along the ridge — is spectacular on clear mornings: the full Himalayan range from Gangotri to Kedarnath stretches across the northern horizon without a single tourist blocking your sightline. Gun Hill at sunrise (take the ropeway or walk the steep 20-minute trail) gives a 360-degree panorama that justifies the trip alone. Landour starts to thaw slightly and the bakeries — Landour Bakehouse and Doma's — are open with fresh cinnamon rolls and surprisingly good coffee. The Sisters Bazaar area of Landour has old colonial bungalows and churches draped in winter fog that feel like a different country entirely. Company Garden down near the Mussoorie lake is quiet and the municipal greenhouse has flowers even in February. This is still off-season pricing territory — ₹1,200-2,000 for rooms that triple by April.
