February is your best statistical bet for Kufri snow. When it falls — usually 2-3 events per February — the Shimla-Kufri road fills with vehicles and the hilltop fills with people within hours. The snow experience is democratic and chaotic: families building snowmen, couples posing, children screaming on improvised sledges, and yaks looking resigned. The skiing is what it is — a slope of maybe 400 metres, basic rental equipment, and instructors who are enthusiastic rather than trained. For children, it's magical. For adults expecting Alpine conditions, adjust expectations radically. The Nature Park in snow is beautiful — the enclosures against white hillsides — but most visitors don't bother when snow is the attraction. Post-snowfall, the brown slush phase arrives within 24-48 hours. Time your visit for fresh snow, not aftermath. Budget: Shimla day-trip is the smart option. If staying: Rs 2000-6000 for resorts near Kufri, premium for snow dates. The Shimla-Kufri-Fagu drive continues toward Narkanda (65km from Shimla), which has better skiing if you want the real thing.
