August at Har-Ki-Doon is the wettest month and trail conditions are at year-worst. Monthly rainfall 250-350mm across the Govind NP region. The Tons river is at peak flood. The Taluka-Osla trail is at maximum leech density and slipperiness. Daytime at Sankri 18-22C, nights 12-15C, humidity 92 percent. At the upper meadow, days are completely cloud-covered — glacier views are zero. The Sankri-Dehradun road takes 2-3 landslide events through the month, often clearing within 24 hours but with cumulative travel-time impacts. All major operators (Indiahikes, Bikat, Himalayan Hikers, Trek The Himalayas, Trekup India) keep August closed for Har-Ki-Doon. Sankri GMVN guesthouse runs at minimum capacity. Independence Day weekend brings a few hardy trekkers but the trip experience is degraded. The next clean window opens mid-September. Skip the month.
