Sasan Gir in June
Gujarat, India
Skip — park closes Jun 16; lodges shift to off-season.
June is Sasan's shutdown pivot — the park closes Jun 16, and Sasan-area lodges shift to off-season. Pre-closure June 1-15 operates with reduced flow as heat and pre-monsoon humidity peak. Aramness and a few mid-market lodges remain open for off-season lodge stays; safari operations cease Jun 16.
The June story
Gir follows a strict monsoon closure — Jun 16 to Oct 15 each year. Pre-closure June (1-15) operates with brutal heat and pre-monsoon humidity; safari operators reduce capacity through the first half of the month. Most Sasan-area lodges close for maintenance from mid-June to August or September. Aramness, Asiatic Lion Lodge and The Fern maintain skeleton operations for slow travellers using the Saurashtra circuit as the trip purpose. The Maldhari herder cattle camps continue (they live inside the forest year-round), but accessible visitor circuits cease. The Sinh Sadan crocodile breeding centre and Kamleshwar Dam viewing platform remain accessible. Wildlife travellers should sequence Sasan for January-April or October-December.
