Manikaran in April
Himachal Pradesh, India
Go in April — peak weather at 12–24°C with wildflowers in bloom, hot springs at ideal temperature, and fewer crowds than summer months.
April brings comfortable warmth (12-24°C) and growing pilgrim traffic. The hot springs are busy on weekends. The Parvati River is in strong flow—turquoise where it runs deep, white in rapids. Apple orchards in the valley bloom pink and white. The road from Bhuntar is scenic and well-maintained.
The April story
April Manikaran hums with pilgrimage energy. The Gurudwara's langar serves hundreds daily, and the organized efficiency of Sikh community service is genuinely impressive to witness. Volunteer if you can—rolling rotis or washing dishes alongside pilgrims is a leveling experience. The Hindu side has its own rhythm: morning aarti at the Shiva temple, evening prayers by the springs. For a day trip, drive or walk to Kasol (4 km downstream)—the Israeli-backpacker town that's become Parvati Valley's social hub—for a completely different energy: cafes, music, and international food. The contrast between spiritual Manikaran and backpacker Kasol within a 15-minute walk is one of India's great cultural juxtapositions.
