Manikaran in September
Himachal Pradesh, India
Go in September — the valley is lush, hot springs are fully accessible, and crowds thin post-peak season, though expect residual moisture and occasional rain.
September sees the monsoon retreat from Parvati Valley. Rainfall decreases, the river calms (relatively), and the valley emerges in stunning post-monsoon clarity. Temperatures: 14-24°C. The road stabilizes. Pilgrim traffic resumes gradually. The hot springs, always available, feel celebratory as skies clear.
The September story
Late September Manikaran is excellent. The hot springs without queues, the river running strong but manageable, the valley walls freshly washed and green—conditions are nearly as good as October but with fewer visitors and lower prices. The Gurudwara resumes its full pilgrim capacity gradually. The walk to Kasol is beautiful with post-monsoon waterfalls still flowing. The trail to Kheerganga (12 km from Barshaini, further up-valley) reopens as paths dry. September is the month when the Parvati Valley's beauty peaks and its crowds haven't arrived—the smart window for those who know.
