Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep) in August
Andaman & Nicobar Islands, India
Skip — Andaman monsoon (May–Sep) makes Radhanagar Beach choppy and unsafe for swimming; ferry services from Port Blair to Havelock cancelled 30%+ of days, especially Jun–Aug. Scuba operators reduce fleet 60%. Better window: November–April.
August on Havelock is July without much improvement. Rainfall settles to 410-440mm, ferries from Port Blair run perhaps three days a week and even those depart late. Dive operators remain closed. The few open resorts function with skeleton crews on monsoon discounts that are not really discounts because there is nothing to do. Radhanagar Beach is unsafe for swimming - the rip-current advisory boards have been up since June. Beach 7 looks dramatic in heavy weather; if your trip is photography rather than swimming or diving, you might extract value, but for most travelers August Havelock is a non-trip. Wait for November.
