Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep) in July
Andaman & Nicobar Islands, India
Skip — Andaman monsoon (May–Sep) makes Radhanagar Beach choppy and unsafe for swimming; ferry services from Port Blair to Havelock cancelled 30%+ of days, especially Jun–Aug. Scuba operators reduce fleet 60%. Better window: November–April.
July on Havelock is the worst month of the year. Rainfall hits 480-510mm, the southwest monsoon is at peak intensity, and ferry cancellation rates run above 50 percent. All major dive operators are closed for the season. Underwater visibility - on the rare day a boat could reach a dive site - collapses to 5-8m. Air 25-29C is mild, but the constant rain, 92 percent humidity, and minimal sun mean clothes do not dry, books grow mould, and even short walks soak you through. The handful of resorts that stay open run on staff-leave routines. Pick October-March instead.
