A colonial-era horse trail built by David Scott, the first British administrator of the Khasi and Jaintia Hills, to connect Assam with Bangladesh (then Sylhet). This gentle 16km walk through pine and oak forests, past streams, and through traditional Khasi villages offers a window into Meghalaya's living cultural landscape. One of the most accessible and rewarding treks in Northeast India.

Living Root Bridge Trek (Nongriat)

Nongriat · Meghalaya

Descend 3500 hand-carved stone steps into a lush subtropical canyon to reach Nongriat village and its legendary Double Decker Living Root Bridge — a UNESCO-nominated marvel grown over centuries by the Khasi people from the aerial roots of rubber fig trees. The natural swimming pool below the bridge is a perfect reward. One of the most unique treks on the planet.

Mawryngkhang Bamboo Trail

Shillong · Meghalaya

One of Meghalaya's most thrilling trails, Mawryngkhang takes you across bamboo bridges suspended over a 1000-foot gorge and along cliff-edge paths to a rocky pinnacle. The Wahthyllong bamboo bridge — rebuilt annually by villagers — is the centerpiece, swaying as you cross high above the valley. Not for the faint-hearted, but the views and adrenaline are unmatched in Northeast India.
