Mawryngkhang Bamboo Trail
Mawryngkhang Bamboo Trail is a moderate single-day, 6 km trek, topping out at 1,500 m. The route takes in Bamboo bridge over 1000-foot gorge; Cliff-edge trail with dramatic valley views; Wahthyllong bamboo bridge — rebuilt every year; Rocky pinnacle viewpoint at the end. Best months: January–March and October–December. Watch points: Absolutely not suitable for anyone with vertigo or fear of heights; bamboo bridges are narrow and sway — grip shoes essential; trail is exposed and dangerous in rain or wind. Fitness level: intermediate, not recommended for children under 14. Nearest hospital: Shillong Civil Hospital — 50km from Wahkhen, 2 hours by road. Network coverage: Jio/Airtel at Wahkhen village. No coverage on the trail.
