This is the month Kullu was made for. The International Kullu Dussehra explodes across the Dhalpur Maidan — 200-plus village deities carried on palanquins from across the valley, drums and horns, flower petals and incense, a week-long carnival where mythology walks the streets in living procession. Autumn sets the surrounding mountains on fire in gold and copper.
Kullu में अभी
Best mid-range option in Kullu proper. River-facing rooms, decent restaurant, and staff who arrange Kullu Dussehra festival logistics if you visit in October.
सिग्नेचरKulvi Dham thali
The siddu is the dish to come for, not the sweets — order it with the dal accompaniment, not just ghee, and you get the wedding-feast version. Mornings are best; the steamer is fresh from 9am.
सिग्नेचरmulti-cuisine family thali
Stick to the Indo-Chinese end of the menu — the South Indian section is functional but not regional. Hakka noodles + paneer chilli is the locals' combo.
सिग्नेचरtandoori chicken with kebab platter
Pair the kebab platter with their fresh-squeezed apple juice — Kullu valley orchards are 15 minutes away and the juice is pressed daily, not bottled.

It's quieter than the Akhara Bazaar end of town — sit upstairs with a plate of momos and you can hear the Beas instead of horns.

Famous for handwoven Kullu shawls and caps. Direct from local weavers at wholesale prices.
