The mountain backdrop carries snow on upper peaks but the lower slopes are wildflower meadows. The Manali-Leh highway traffic (through the tunnel or over Rohtang if open) brings travellers who stop at Sissu for the waterfall photo and stay for the valley. कहाँ खाएँ

  • Cafe Alpenglow

    Shooling, Sissu · ₹₹

    सिग्नेचरwhite sauce pasta

The Israeli backpacker influence on the menu (shakshuka, hummus) reflects Sissu's role as a Manali alternative for the post-tunnel circuit. WiFi is free and reliable enough to actually work from — uncommon on this stretch.

  • Cafe Sissu

    Sissu · ₹₹

    सिग्नेचरwood-fired pizza

Reviewers flag the food as slightly overpriced for Lahaul — go for the pizza, cappuccino, or a cheesecake slice rather than full meals. In low season (Nov-Mar) it's one of the only cafes still running full service when neighbouring places are closed or skeleton-staffed.

  • Hobknob Stay & Cafe

    Sissu · ₹₹

    सिग्नेचरhomestyle Himachali plates

Cafe is primarily set up for in-house guests; non-residents should call ahead. The lounge is the warmest space in Sissu after dark — order a chai and sit in front of the bukhari while the temperature drops.

  • Lapiti Cafe & Stay

North Portal, Atal Tunnel · ₹₹

सिग्नेचरtandoori platter with Chenab valley view

If the Atal Tunnel closes mid-trip due to snow or maintenance (not uncommon Nov-Apr), this is the closest place to wait it out with hot food and a wood heater. Call ahead on weekends — they're tight on covers and Manali day-trippers fill them up by lunch.
