Pushkar in February
Rajasthan, India
Go in February — peak season with ideal 10–24°C, calm lake reflections, and low prices before the Camel Fair crowds arrive in November.
Peak crowds
February is one of Pushkar's busiest months. The score rates conditions — weather, access, value — not how many people you'll share them with. Pushkar Camel Fair (Nov) is the busiest week in all of Rajasthan. Kartik Purnima draws lakhs. Backpacker scene keeps it lively Oct-Mar.
February warms to 10-25°C. Pushkar's backpacker cafes fill with longer-stay travellers escaping Rajasthan's tourist circuit rush. The sacred lake reflects clear winter skies. Maha Shivaratri (if it falls in February) brings a moderate surge of devotees to the Shiva temples around the lake. The camel population in surrounding areas is visible on drives out of town.
The February story
February is Pushkar for people who actually want to experience a living sacred town, not a festival. The morning aarti at Brahma Temple happens as it has for centuries — small, intense, meaningful. The lake reflects the Aravalli hills perfectly in still morning air. Rose harvest begins in surrounding fields — the scent carries into town. Savitri and Gayatri temple treks are comfortable all day. The backpacker cafe scene (banana pancakes, Israeli food, espresso) coexists oddly but charmingly with ancient temple rituals. Ajmer Dargah (11km) is less crowded than peak season. Buses to Jaipur (3 hours), Jodhpur (5 hours), and Udaipur (6 hours) run frequently. This is Pushkar at its most honest.
