Sri Aurobindo Ashram Samadhi (8am-12pm, 2pm-6pm, no entry fee, photography prohibited inside) is at year-quietest in the first 10 days of January post-New-Year crowd thinning; February 21 is the next big closure. The four Ashram Darshan Days (Feb 21, Apr 24, Aug 15, Nov 24) do not affect Samadhi access for the day-visitor as the building stays open, but most other Ashram facilities (Pour Tous store, Dining Hall) close to non-residents. French Quarter walks (Rue Romain Rolland, Rue Suffren, Rue Dumas) are at year-best photogenic light at 7-9am and 4-6pm. Le Cafe at Promenade Beach has a 30-minute morning queue 9-10am. Chennai-Puducherry ECR drive: 160km, 3-3.5 hours mid-week, 4-5 hours Friday evening or Sunday return.
