Mount Abu in April
Rajasthan, India
Heat peaks mid-day; early mornings reward you, afternoons drive you indoors
April is peak transition—temperatures hit 20-32°C and Mount Abu becomes the escape valve for Gujarat and Rajasthan's escalating heat. Hotel prices climb. Nakki Lake has queues for paddleboats. The Dilwara Temples are busy but still manageable early morning (temple opens at noon for tourists—go when doors open).
The April story
April's saving grace is timing. The Dilwara Temples open to non-Jain visitors from 12-6 PM (check current timings—they change). Arrive at noon sharp for the quietest 30 minutes. The Adhar Devi Temple, carved into a rock face and accessed through a narrow cave-like passage, is a different kind of sacred experience—genuinely atmospheric. April evenings at Sunset Point draw hundreds but the sunset over the Aravalli ridge, with the desert plains below turning gold, is legitimately beautiful. Mount Abu's restaurants serve excellent Gujarati thalis—many visitors are Gujarati, so the food caters to that palate. Try the dal-bati-churma for the Rajasthani version. The Brahma Kumaris campus offers daily visitor tours explaining their philosophy.
