June Drass is the valley at its most alive. The meadows around the town bloom with Himalayan wildflowers, the Dras River runs full and blue-green, and the War Memorial in summer light — with green grass, clear sky, and the peaks of Tololing and Tiger Hill visible behind — provides the most complete Kargil War experience. The highway traffic is steady, and Drass's small market serves travellers heading to Kargil (60 km) and Leh (230 km).
