Peak Season
Chittorgarh in December
Rajasthan, India
December cools Chittorgarh to 8-24°C. Morning fog occasionally wraps the hilltop fort in cloud, creating the illusion of a fortress floating above the plains. Tourist season builds but never overwhelms — Chittorgarh remains Rajasthan's most undervisited major fort.
The December story
December morning at the fort, when fog clears and the plains materialize 150 metres below, is theatrical. The seven gates on the ascent road each mark a historical defence point, and in December quiet you can stop at each one and read the stories without bus-honking competition. The Kirti Stambha (Tower of Fame, 24 metres, Jain, older than the Vijay Stambha) is extraordinary in winter light — its carved Jain tirthankaras catching low-angle sun from every direction. Christmas brings a minor uptick from Udaipur-based tourists. New Year is quiet. Rooms: ₹800-2,500/night.
