Peak Season
Alwar in October
Rajasthan, India
October reopens Sariska and resets the clock. The forest is green and lush after monsoon — a completely different landscape from the dry-season safari experience. Wildlife disperses with abundant water, making sightings harder but the scenery spectacular. Weather is perfect: 22-30°C.
The October story
October Sariska is the photo negative of April Sariska. Instead of dry, brown, concentrated wildlife, you get green, lush, dispersed wildlife. Tiger sightings are harder — animals don't need to visit specific waterholes when every depression holds water. But the forest is stunning, birdlife is exceptional (resident and passage migrants overlap), and spotted deer herds are at their most photogenic. Sambar stags are in rut. October safari mornings are comfortable — light jacket weather. Bhangarh is excellent now: clear skies, green surroundings, and nobody there on weekday mornings. The Alwar heritage circuit — City Palace, step-wells, Moti Doongri, Siliserh — is at its most enjoyable. October is the all-rounder month when everything works and nothing overwhelms.
