Good Time
Alwar in March
Rajasthan, India
March is the last comfortable month for Sariska before heat pushes animals deeper into cover. Morning game drives (6am starts) are productive — sambar, nilgai, leopard tracks, and if you're fortunate, a tiger. Bhangarh is best visited at dawn when morning mist gives the ruins their reputation.
The March story
March is crunch time for Sariska. The forest is drying fast, water sources are consolidating, and every animal in the reserve gravitates toward the remaining pools and streams. Safari guides call this "concentrated wildlife" month — your chances of seeing multiple species in a single drive are highest now. The downside: temperatures push past 32°C by midday, so morning safaris (6-10am) are essential. Bhangarh in March morning light, with wildflowers growing through 400-year-old ruins, is photogenic beyond reason. Alwar city itself has an underrated heritage circuit: the City Palace, the Moosi Maharani ki Chhatri (a stunning cenotaph), and Vijay Mandir Palace on the Siliserh road. March lets you combine Rajasthan heritage with real wildlife without the extreme heat that follows.
