Long Island in February
Andaman & Nicobar Islands, India
Go in February—peak season means calmest seas for Lalaji Bay boat access and lowest rainfall, but book accommodation and transport weeks ahead.
Peak crowds
February is one of Long Island's busiest months. The score rates conditions — weather, access, value — not how many people you'll share them with. Peak Nov–Mar for dry season; Jun–Sep monsoon keeps the island nearly empty.
Long Island in February is the cleanest version of the calm-water trip. Rainfall under 15mm for the month, sea state at year-low, the directorate of shipping ferry from Yerrata jetty running 3-4 weekly slots on the 2-hour crossing. Air 23-30C, water 28C, underwater visibility at the Lalaji Bay reef-break a year-best 25-30 metres. The two homestays - Pristine Beach Resort and Blue Planet Backpackers - run at 1,800-2,800 rupees per night with 2-3 week advance booking. Daily activity is the 30-minute dinghy ride to Lalaji Bay, snorkeling, walking the beach, reading. There is no ATM and no Jio/Airtel signal. BSNL works at the jetty, fades 200m inland. Carry 12,000 rupees from Port Blair.
