Katra in February
Jammu & Kashmir, India
February at Katra is the gentle ease out of winter. Daytime 15-17C, nights 5-8C, snowfall risk on the Bhairon Mandir extension (the 2km uphill from the Bhawan) drops to 0-1 events across the month. The Katra-Sanjichhat helicopter takes 15-20 percent weather cancellations. Daily pilgrim flow runs at 10-15k — RFID Yatra Parchi at the Niharika counter is walk-in. Battery car (Adkuwari-Bhawan last 2km) and pony service running normally. The Bhawan Aarti — 6:15am morning, 7:00pm evening — is at its most accessible because of the lower crowd density. Hotel rates run 25-30 percent below October-November peak. Trek route via Banganga, Charan Paduka, Adkuwari, Sanjichhat to Bhawan (13.5km, 6-8 hours) is fully open and at its quietest. Helicopter Katra to Sanjichhat is the time-saver: 8 minutes versus 2-3 hours uphill trek. Books open 60 days ahead at iaffire.gov.in (the Shrine Board portal).
