Astavinayak Circuit in September
Maharashtra, India
September is the absolute peak of the Ashtavinayak year. Ganesh Chaturthi (Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturthi) falls Saturday 12 September 2026 — the 10-day festival running through Anant Chaturdashi Tuesday 22 September 2026. Every one of the eight Ashtavinayak temples runs continuous palki processions, dindi pilgrim groups arriving from across Maharashtra, special abhishek rituals every dawn, full puran-poli prasad distribution. Pune district sees its single largest annual pilgrim influx. MTDC, MSRTC, and private operator bus packages book out three months in advance; standard rates rise to ₹6,500-8,000 per pilgrim for the 3-day Ganesh-Chaturthi-window tour. Theur (Chintamani — the Madhavrao Peshwa samadhi temple) and Ranjangaon (Mahaganpati, with its 10-trunked 20-armed Maha Ganapati murti) draw the heaviest density. The full ten-day window operates at festival saturation; even the Konkan side (Pali, Mahad) handles the volume by extending darshan hours past midnight. Book 90 days ahead minimum.
